Soccer Snacks: Good vs. Evil
Soccer is a sport. In order to play a sport, players need healthy fuel. A balanced breakfast or lunch before a game should be good enough to get them through. During a game, children need water to rehydrate. Don't fall victim to the marketing mumbo jumbo that makes you think that your kids need Gatorade in order to play a game. Water will do.
If you are compelled to provide a snack for your child or the team, good old fashioned orange slices are perfect. Orange slices are even fun... ever see a coach make a monkey face while eating an orange slice?
Please DO NOT bring snacks to a game or practice that include a lot of sweets -- cupcakes, muffins and worst of all donuts! You should not tempt an entire team of athletic kids into eating these things in association with a soccer game. There are other times that these foods are appropriate, but not at soccer.
