Scholarship & Outreach Programs
West Side Soccer League believes deeply that everyone deserves a chance to play and enjoy the beautiful game. Since its inception, WSSL has kept its registration fees as low as possible so that as many people as possible can play soccer in this great community organization. WSSL has also built its programming year by year to meet the needs of the local community.

Core Program Scholarships
Each year, nearly 1,000 children play soccer for reduced fees. This enables them to join a Core WSSL team and to participate in weekly practices and games with their team. All registered players can also participate in free weekly skills training sessions with professional coaches. Funding for these programs are made possible by sponsorships from local businesses and from donations from families during registration.

Tournament Team Scholarships
Once a player has been selected through our tryout process to join a tournament team, s/he may apply for a needs-based scholarship. We want all selected players to be able to play and to develop at this level regardless of financial ability.
Spring 2013: Regular Fee - $75, Scholarship Fee - $40

Travel Team Scholarships
Once a player has been selected through our tryout process to join a travel team, s/he may apply for a needs-based scholarship. We want all selected players to be able to play and to develop at this level regardless of financial ability.

Summer Camp Scholarships
WSSL hosts its own camps, in partnership with the New York Red Bulls. WSSL also works with local soccer camps -- for summer and school break sessions -- to secure free or reduced cost registration for children who would like to play but cannot afford the weekly fees. Other Support for our Families
WSSL has provided other scholarship support for families by subsidizing tickets to see the NY Red Bulls play on the national pitch, by subsidizing busing for all families, etc.
Outreach Programs
Since 2008, WSSL has run a soccer skills clinic coached by professional coaches at Jacob Schiff Field in Hamilton Heights every Friday during the season. The kids who participate are not usually able to participate in the Core program, but have a tremendous time learning and playing soccer with their friends under the guidance and encouragement of some of NY's best coaches. Players pay a $5 registration fee for the season.
2013 SPECIAL OUTREACH PROGRAM FOR KIDS FROM EAST HARLEM & SOUTH BRONX: WSSL has partnered with the New York Red Bulls and Randall's Island Park Alliance (RIPA) to present a FREE scholarship summer soccer camp experience to 60 to 100 male and female athletes ages 12 to 18 this July (15th to 19th). The camp will take place on Randall's Island and the New York Red Bulls will provide training excellence and inspiration.

Field Support for Community-Based Play
WSSL is committed to building and refurbishing fields in locations all over NYC and has worked with politicians, non-profit organizations and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation to develop fields that not only benefit WSSL, but benefit the community at large, as well.
WSSL supplies the Parks and fields around NYC with top quality soccer goals that meet the highest safety standards, as well as new nets as needed. WSSL is delighted that the community beyond WSSL benefits from these investments.
Scholarship Application
Any family that is interested in applying for a scholarship must fill out an application form, email (wssldocs@gmail.com) or fax it (646-607-2259) to WSSL by the deadline. Deadlines for scholarship applications will be posted on the WSSL Calendar.
