Welcome to On-Line Registration!
Step 1 - Make Sure You're in the Right Place
Please read the following information carefully.
You are about to register your child for West Side Soccer League (WSSL), AYSO Region 611, which serves children ages 5 to 18 in New York City and surrounding communities. All practices and games for WSSL take place in Manhattan and on Wards Island. Enrollment in WSSL is ONLY open to children who were born on or before July 31, 2003 (no exceptions).
By registering here between April 28 and May 30 , you will be registering your child for WSSL's Fall 2008 Soccer Season.
If you're in the right place, read on.
Step 2 - Review Our Policies
Before we allow you to register, we will require you to read and accept our policies. If you do not read and accept the policy, you will not be able to register.
Code of Conduct- I will support the league in its efforts to provide a safe, fair, fun environment in which to play soccer.
- I will support the league's five guiding principles of Open Registration, Balanced Teams, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship and Everyone Plays.
- I will make a point of supporting and complimenting the officials for their efforts. I recognize that they are all volunteers doing the best they can to ensure that the game is played fairly and safely, and that the children are having a good time.
- I will not use profanity at any time. I will compliment the children, refs, and coaches on their efforts.
Requests and Team Assignments
Every year we receive numerous requests concerning team assignments. These requests are simple to make but they are not easy to grant. We generally do not accept requests, except in the case of twin siblings.
We do not accept conditional registrations, such as a registration conditional on a player being on a particular team or with a particular player or not practicing on a certain day.
We reserve the right to cancel the registration of any player if we believe that the parent or guardian is harassing the division director about team assignments. Please remember - our division directors are volunteers and we ask you to be polite and understanding.
We reserve the right to adjust teams after the season has begun if necessary to balance teams. We draft teams to be equal but teams can become unbalanced if, for example, a strong player drops out after teams have been assigned.
Refunds
Refunds of player fees only will be given to those players whom we are not able to place on a team or who notify the Registrar of their desire to withdraw on or before July 18, 2008.
Please e-mail any refund or partial refund request to the Registrar. Your request must include your name, the player's name, and the player's date of birth. Refunds will be issued by refund or credit to the credit card used for payment. Refunds will be issued by check (to the original submitter of the registration) only if the cardholder no longer has this card or a refund or credit to a card is not possible for some other reason.
Jewelry
We have an absolute prohibition on players of any age wearing any form of jewelry other than medical bracelets. This ban includes, in particular, studs worn in newly pierced ears (or other body parts). NO EXCEPTIONS!! No one has authority to waive this rule. Medic Alert bracelets may be worn, but must be taped down for the safety of all players.
Space
Field space, coaches and referees are all in limited supply! Acceptance of a registration is subject to availability.
Volunteers
WSSL is 100% volunteer run and managed. The league depends on your service. Each parent is REQUIRED to fulfill at least one (1) volunteer role during the season. You will be asked to sign up to be a referee, a coach, a program administrator, a team manager, an equipment director, etc. during the registration process. Appropriate training will be provided to those of you who volunteer to be coaches or referees. Seasoned volunteers will help new volunteers understand their roles. Please do not sign up your child if you/your family is not willing to volunteer to help the league.
Registration Form/Medical Release
Before a player may play or practice, a parent (or the player if 18 years old) must sign a standard form of registration form/medical release. The legal terms are posted here.
Other Policies
We have many other policies that apply to various aspects of participation in our program. These policies are located on this website and/or elsewhere. Participation is conditional on your complying with any policies applicable to you. Our policies are subject to change.
