Required Training
WSSL's coach (including assistant coaches) and all referee volunteers receive training that covers the content they need to know to fulfill the position as well as Safe Haven training that prepares them to work with young children. All coach and referee volunteers must take Safe Haven and must be up to date with the latest training for the age groups they coach and referee.

Coaching Courses- Safe Haven/ Coach Certification Clinics at various levels: U8, U10, U12
- Practical Coach Certification Clinics (held every few weeks during the season): For all coaches as a way to stay fresh, learn new skills and practice games, etc.
- U8 Referee Certification Course: Introductory. Mandatory for all Referees. Includes Safe Haven. For Referees in all Divisions. Covers you for U6, U7 and U8 years.
- U10 Referee Certification Course: Must have passed U8 Referee Certification Course in order to attend. Must pass a written test in order to be certified. Covers offside rules, goalies. Covers you for U9 and older.
- Assistant Referee Clinic: Separate course. For those who are going to assist a center referee in officiating in divisions U9 and older.
- Youth Referee Clinic: For teens 13-18 who would like to become referees. Typically officiate younger players' games. Can earn school credit.
- Referee Q & A: Held periodically throughout the season to provide a forum where referees can discuss situations that have come up on the field and ask questions about rules and their applications.
